Welcome

So, I am starting this blog as a way for people to follow Alvin's treatment and development, without taking over my entire blog.

So, we go on November 4th to Cranial technologies to get his head scan and get fitted for the DOC band. Then, we will be picking up the band on November 18th, if not before. so, here we go!

Finally, some good news

For those of you that follow Alvin's story.

There is hope on the horizon. The doctor that will be seeing him for the cranial treatment has agreed to donate his time. (IE, no doctor's fee). Cranial Technologies has agreed to a payment plan for their fees and NMCRS is willing to foot for $1000 of the bill. So, instead of a giant $10,000+ looming over our heads. Its looking like we are going to be able to do this for 5 payments of $900. So, finally, my baby is going to be getting the treatment he so desperately needs. Coming up with $900 a month isnt going to be easy, but its sure going to be easier than 10 thousand up front.

Touch a Truck

We started out the weekend by heading to Groton Townhouse to eat breakfast, yet again at 11am. Boy, I am getting later and later on eating breakfast. But, little Alvin became a BIG BOY. He actually sat through most of breakfast on his own in the highchair. CRY. He is getting too big.

Then it was off to Touch a Truck at Emali's school. Here are some pics from the day.

The End Result

So, this is the end result of Eric and Erin making rice krispie treats together. I think it looks wonderful. Not bad for a 4 year and a half-asleep dad.

Wonderful Weekend

Well, this was a wonderful weekend. Eric is home now. (For a little while anyway) The weather was beautiful. We went out to East Haddam and went to Gillette Castle. It was a spectacular visit. We took the tour of the castle and walked along the various trails on the land. Totally breathtaking.

We ended up finding a little beach that was down near the ferry and spent quite a while down there just watching the boats race up and down the river. The girls played in the sand and the waves.

Then Sunday, we went back to East Haddam and went to Devil's Hopyard. Chapman Falls was gorgeous. We walked around there for a while and just sat and listened to the falls. We had a picnic that afternoon. It was wonderful just spending time with Eric and the kids.
I know that Eric had a good time too. He was grinning ear to ear all day.

Where has the time gone?

So, I just realized that its been close to a week since I posted. GASP. Wow, I have been so busy that I havent even realized that I hadnt posted. (wow, that sentence was horrid). So, yeah. This past weekend was friend encounter after friend encounter. Both mine and the kiddos. Breakfasts and lunches and random sitting on the couch distracting poor Ken from his football game. Sorry Ken!

Then onto the beginning of this week, which led to grocery shopping ($350!) and clothes shopping (winter clothes) and then the culmination so far. Erin discovered Build A Bear. Oh yeah, so she is now the proud mommy of her very own stuffed Kitty. Go Erin!

Busy Busy Day

So I start off this morning actually waking up to the alarm. Which, for anyone that knows me, this means I actually slept for once. Yay sleep! Woo hoo. So, I get up, get the kids up, get Emali off to school. Then its time to relax just a bit before I head down to Waterford to meet Jackie for coffee! I love Jackie. She is such a sweetheart. So, we (me, Erin, and Alvin) get ready and head out the door, only to be met by this big spider. I swear this thing is a good 4 inches from leg to leg. Freaky. Really neat looking, But he is a big son of a gun. So yeah, closed that door and went out the side door. But, I had to take a picture just so everyone can see what is lurking out my front door.

So, we get down to Borders and Erin spots this kitty cookie. Which, of course, she just had to have. So, kitty cookie and organic chocolate milk. Yummy! I had myself a Iced Vanilla coffee and a piece of pumpkin spice cake. Double yummy. Jackie came and we had a long good conversation. I love Jackie. Her son, Than, is getting so big. He is so adorable too. I really hated having to go, but Alvin was getting fussy. I found out later that it was because he was tired. Considering he passed out on the way home and didnt wake up for 2 hours. Then Emali came home and it was time to head to Walmart to pick up Emali's new Hannah Montana glasses. I think she did really good at picking out glasses. It is going to be weird seeing her with them on. But, she already says that she is seeing much better. Woo hoo! Then its grabbing a quick bite to eat at McDonald's and off to Emali's school to watch "Nim's Island". So all in all, it was a very busy day. These are pictures of the kids at Em's school getting ready to watch the movie.
