The weekend

The weekend was WONDERFUL! It was around 85 yesterday and was around 90 today. We went to Zemko Pond in Salem, CT yesterday to go fishing. We didnt catch anything, but the girls had a good time. Then, we headed over to Salmon River. We didnt stay long there, so, sorry. No pics from there. Then we headed on to Dinosaur State Park. We were able to see actual dinosaur tracks. So, that was really neat. Then today, we went to Petsmart and bought new toys for Charley and headed to see him for a while. Then we headed back down to Rocky Neck State Park to go swimming. I forgot my camera today, so again. Sorry, no pics. The weekend was so wonderful and I am sad that it has to end.

His photostudy is posted over on his blog.

The picture on the left is when he started the cranial banding in November, and the picture on the right is his picture taken just a few days ago. Notice how much his head has rounded out.

A beautiful day

Yes, today was a beautiful day. I dont know what temperature it officially got to today, but it was wonderful outside. We decided to take the kids down to Rocky Neck State Park in Niantic for a picnic. We couldnt resist and went and played on the beach for a while. The pics below are from our visit there. (There is also a pic of Erin and her brand new bike). Enjoy!

No means "No"

Yes, that is right. No means "No". It doesnt mean "Maybe". It doesnt mean "I'll think about it". It is a decisive word that means "no", "non", "nada", "not going to happen". When someone says NO, that doesnt mean ask them again in an hour, a day, a week. They said no. Take the hint, get over it. Stop pestering or the first NO can turn into a hell of alot more.

And it's a......

girl!

That is right, Karen (Eric's sister) is officially having a little girl. Yay, I get to be an auntie to a precious little baby girl come August. Congratulations Karen and Bill! I know you guys are going to make wonderful parents.

Success! (somewhat)

Got a call just a little while ago. The state vet has agreed that based on the circumstances surrounding Charley's wildlife 'encounter', and his age and vaccine roster, that Charley should be allowed to have a complete vet workup including getting his last round of puppy shots! Yay! Its a small victory, but it is a victory. Generally, once in quaratine, they wont be seen by a vet unless they are exhibiting signs of rabies. But, because Charley is still a little puppy. (Well, as little as a 5 month old Golden gets), that he can be seen by a vet and finish his puppy series of vaccines. They last thing we need is for Charley to get close to being released and catch Parvo or something else. So, the state vet has looked over the casefile and decided that the risk to the vet is minimal and that Charley can be examined. Yay!

Charley

I know the pics are horridly fuzzy, but that is because he is behind dirty plexiglass, not my camera. He is getting big. Being in the pound is starting to get to him. Donna, the AC officer we like, said that he just isnt as perky as he used to be. But, he is still eating, he isnt feverish, etc. So, she isnt worried about him coming down with rabies. He is just a very depressed doggie right now. But, because that can be a sign of rabies, they have put him on a higher quaratine level. No visitors at all. So, we dont get to see Charley at all for at least 10 days. Reason? If he is exhibiting signs of rabies, we will know in the next 10 days because he will get worse and will eventually become 'angry'. So, please, cross your fingers that its not rabies and its just a funk. I really miss my baby.
