My loot from the tent sale

So, here's my long overdue Homer Laughlin post. I got up about 7am on Saturday to get ready for the tent sale. Got my breakfast, put on the comfy shoes, loaded the appliance dolly in the van, then sat down to wait on my Grandma. She was sooo kind enough to come down to my house at 8:30 to watch the kids so I could go stand in line for hours to buy dishes. Seriously, my Grandma rocks. Thanks a million Grandma.

I made it to Newell, West Virginia (where the Homer Laughlin outlet is) around 9am. Got my ticket and stood in line. The gates open at 10am, and they only let in 75 people at a time. So, it was a long but manageable wait. I finally got to the tent at 11am. Spent the next hour IN the tent looking through all the wears. Internets, I was seriously happy. Me! Happy about dishes. Go figure. I found everything I was wanting and then some. I got a butter dish, my salt n pepper shakers, bowls, plates, rammekins, etc. All total I got 74 pieces for just under $140. Let me just say that if I'd have bought retail I would've spent close to $400, if not more. So it was one heck of a deal.

Steel Valley Super Nationals

So, yesterday I started out the morning by going to to the Homer Laughlin outlet for their awesome tent sale. I'm not gonna post about that because, well, it deserves it's own post. :) Then it was home to take a nap. Then it was off to Salem for the Steel Valley Super Nationals. We had a wonderful night. Looking at beautiful cars/trucks, watching awesome drag racing, and ending up watching a wonderful fireworks display.

botton row, from right: Awesome car, Dodge truck, the girls watching the drags.

And here's a little video of Alvin. It's very short, but it's him watching the drags and shouting "Go!".

WBW - March 17, 2006

This picture was taken in March 2006 at my ex husband's house. Both of the girls with their bunnies. It's amazing how much Erin has changed looks in the last 4 years.

What is it about...

... the internet that makes adults think they can say whatever they want? Yes, I get that anonymity is wonderful. But seriously, degrading and harrassing someone doesnt make you cool or likeable. It just reinforces people's ideal that you are, in fact, an complete asshole.

Happy Father's Day

I just wanted to take a second to say "Happy Father's Day" to my wonderful husband. I know it's only your second 'official' Father's Day, but you are a wonderful father to Alvin and the girls. We love you and miss you so very much. I cant wait til we can be with you again.

Vegetable Garden - Week Four

Yet again, I am a day late. I know this. Better late than never! I am sooo stoked with the garden this week. It's all growing quite well and we are starting to actually produce!!

The pumpkin plants
Our tomatoes

The broccoli

The corn plants

And just because I can, here are some pictures of Alvin. I dont remember what I said 'no' to, but this is the look I was treated to after telling him 'no'.

Then, this was him today. He was soooooo tired that he passed out laying with his sister. So cute! (Yes, I know he still has a bottle. Get over it.)

And because I thought it was cute. A video of Alvin on a rocking horse saying "Whee!"

WBW - 1989

That's right. Once again it's WayBack Wendesday(WBW). This time, however, Eric is being featured. I dont know much about this photo, other than it was taken in 1989 when he was 9 years old. He was sooo cute back then. What happened?? *grin*

Eric got a tattoo!

Yes, you read that right. Eric is now an ink wearing member of society. He's been wanting to get this tattoo for a long time. The time was finally right. Since some of you dont know what you're looking at, I figured I'd help you out. Submariners call them 'dolphins', but the US Navy officially call it the submarine warfare insignia pin. This means a lot to Eric. He worked very hard to get his 'dolphins' and now they will forever be a part of him.

Tattoo done by Frank of the Spirit Gallery LLC, in New London, CT.

Weekend Recap

So, I know it's been a few days, but Eric came home for the weekend. (We didnt tell anyone.) We relaxed and just spent time together. It was wonderful. Of course I am sad that it was only 2 days, but I'll take what I can. I figured it out today. It's Day 158 of the year 2010. I've seen Eric about 22 of those days. He's on a shore tour too. That's what's so horrid about this geo-bach.

But, enough complaining. Military wives do this every day. I too can do this. I dont have to like it, but I can do it. In other news, Emali got a new haircut. She wasnt too sure at first, but now she likes it. It's going to be sooo much easier to take care of. I think she looks great!

New Section

If you notice on the left hand side, I have a ++++ Now Reading ++++. I stole this idea from Kim at Navy Wife, Navy Life. Thanks Kim for the idea!

Vegetable Garden - Week Two

We're producing! I was worried with the horrid storms that have went through that our garden would be kaput when I checked on it today. But luckily the plants dont seem any worse for the wear.

A tiny little snap pea coming!
A tomato!

The corn broke through the ground!

Me, my brother, my step sister

This picture was taken at the reception for my dad and step-mom's wedding. I cant believe how freaking thin I was! Sheesh! It's amazing that 9 years later, I would get married in the same church.
Note: I still have the dress!
